About This Activity
By the end of this activity, students will be able to demonstrate a foundational understanding of the thematic areas of the SDGs and how they intersect with students’ chosen academic discipline and potential personal and professional pathways.
Challenge students to correctly match the titles of the SDGs to their icons, as fast as possible, before learning more about the SDGs and reflecting on their relevance for students and wider society.
This activity is designed for students of any discipline, for all levels of study.
It can primarily be used at the start of a module or programme to introduce students to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the broader concepts of sustainability and sustainable development, and spark conversations about how these may be related to their studies, interests and career aspirations.
Social in nature, it can be good way to introduce students
to one another and encourage interaction. For students
with more experience in these areas, it can be a
light-hearted starter activity to raise energy levels before
moving into the rest of the session.
The timing of the activity is flexible depending on the
context of how it is used. Usually a minimum of 15
minutes is required.
